More thoughts on Legacies S2
Feb. 15th, 2020 10:03 pmI have a very conflicted view of this season because I've enjoyed a lot of it, but there's been a fair bit, mostly in the recent episodes, that fell pretty flat.
As always spoilers, in this case up to 2x13 which is the most recent episode (lol as if anyone reads this but me).
- I'm sad that Clarke is dead (I hope he comes back at some point). When Vardemus turned out to be Clarke I definitely shrieked at my computer screen. I really enjoy the dynamic between him and Hope - I'm not gonna lie I ship it a little.
- the season was better before everyone remembered Hope. Actually, to be fair, the season was better before the Necromancer became the big bad
- The entire arc with Lizzie remembering Hope first and their friendship was A+++++ would watch a sitcom of Hope and Lizzie getting into crazy situations
- Now that Landon has become romantic lead for Hope again, I once more have lost interest. I feel a little fickle considering that I was loving the pining early in s2, but ugh Landon is so insecure and it drives me nuts. The show does seem to be trying but...I still don't buy it
- The scene where Landon and Josie redecorated Hope's room for her was super, super cute, and you know what I can see them as a throuple
- Alyssa Chang deserved better
- Fuck Alaric and his judge/jury/executioner mindset. He's literally best friends with Damon Salvatore you don't get to judge 16 year olds who lost control and sentence them to a prison world forever with no chance of parole that also includes a crazy heretic
- Kai's scenes were pretty fun, I will admit it. I wish he had some screen time with Lizzie too, since they're both the crazy siblings (though Jo is definitely vying for crazy sibling spot)
- I'm curious where they're going to take Dark!Josie. I feel like they've basically made Jo the most powerful character on the show (she knocked out Freya, she figured out a spell to bring back memories. I enjoy it but it also makes Hope look extra weak in comparison and considering Hope is supposed to be this all powerful tribrid...hmmm.)
- Landon became the flaming chicken of his dreams.
- I cannot believe the show passed up a chance to show Landon crying phoenix tears and healing Dorian for wings of fire and flying him to the hospital. I feel cheated. GIVE ME HEALING PHOENIX TEARS SHOW
- Chad deserves so much better than this. He is a total bro who is always there and now he's stuck under thrall to the necromancer and not even death can save him
- The necromancer was funny for about .5 seconds and now he just annoys the fuck out of me
- I've enjoyed seeing the twins and Hope have moments of closeness and best friendship
- Honestly was enjoying this season SO MUCH up through about episode 8
- Kym and MG were cute for a hot second. Lol Kaleb was a total overprotective older bro. I'm glad Kym left though because I feel like personally if I were in that same situation I would nope the hell out too. Death is much to close to the Salvatore school.
- Emma is a bad teacher. Sorry not sorry if that's controversial. But like when Wade was all I am a fairy and the asshole kids made fun of him, she just stood there and did nothing? Until a Main Character made a defensive inflammatory remark to kind of defend Wade??? Also her kumbaya circle when all the kids were being infected with bad juju was a dumb way to handle that. Let's not forget that she too was part of the sentencing of teenagers to the prison world, and the lack of choice Alyssa had in getting her memory stripped from her
- I literally forgot about Lizzie and Sebastian until just now when trying to remember if there was anything in the show I forgot to comment on, so that shows how much of an impression that relationship made on me
- BRING BACK RAFAEL 2K20. Honestly what a waste
- Also Ethan and Maya! You introduced fun characters and then just completely dropped them. I want to know if Ethan's arm healed!
Overall feeling towards the show: definitely some fun moments, some oh shit moments, and cool character dynamics, but mostly feeling blah towards the show right now. There's a month long break before 2x14 airs and honestly I'm not even annoyed like I've been at previous wait times because my emotional investment has dropped. Of course, month long breaks don't help with maintaining emotional investment either.
